Dog-friendly caffiends Matt and April Guldi of Cups and Pups Coffee are opening their first brick-and-mortar space in College Park as beloved neighborhood haunt Gratitude Coffee pulls up stakes.

“Jenny is moving on to a new chapter in her life,” says April Guldi. “She is beloved by all her customers and the community and will be so missed.”

The Guldis have spent a few days at the shop (1307 Edgewater Drive in Orlando) recently, getting to know the regulars — and their dogs.

“We will continue Gratitude’s dog-friendly policy — with dog treats and the dog bowl out front and the dogs are welcome to come inside. Our long-term vision has always been to have a dog park with a coffee shop ... this is the first stop on the way there.”

The Central Florida natives, who’ve been serving coffee out of a vintage 1959 Airstream in Lockhart since 2019, will continue running it — for events only — through June 1, after which they plan to sell it.

The “where” may be changing, but the wares aren’t: Craft coffee and artisanal baked goods are the plans. Guldi says they’ll have a rotating list of locally-owned bakeries supplying the goodies. Folks can keep a lookout for their favorites on the shop’s social media accounts.

Gratitude’s owner took much the same path — Hackney cultivated a huge following operating first as a truck before moving into the cozy space in College Park.

“We get each other!” Guldi says, laughing. “We say that all the time. And we’re just so excited to be able to walk in somewhere and turn on the light switch and have everything already there ... and she totally understands.”

Gratitude’s last day open will be March 31. Cups and Pups will soft open in April; a date is still to-be-announced — but the official grand opening is set for May 1. The Guldis look forward to multiple transitions this year, as the couple is expecting their second child in August.

“We are really excited to connect with the College Park community and continue our goal of leaving people happier than when we found them,” says Guldi.
