GOLDSBORO, NC. — Stormberg Foods has issued a recall of three chicken-based dog treats on July 12 due to a potential Salmonella contamination. The affected products include Beg & Barker Chicken Breast Strips dog treats, Billo’s Best Friend Chicken Breast dog treats and Green Coast Pets Chicken Crisps dog treats.

The company was prompted to recall its dog treat products after the North Carolina Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services (NCDA & CS) notified the company of a sample that tested positive for Salmonella.

Stormberg is urging consumers to discard all batches of the following chicken-based dog treat products:

All affected products have expiration dates ranging from 6/6/23 to 6/23/23.

According to Stormberg, the products were distributed from June 8 to June 22 and shipped to warehouses in California, Minnesota, North Carolina and Rhode Island. After warehousing, the products were then shipped to retailers and consumers nationwide.

To date, no illnesses have been reported. According to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Stormberg and the NCDA & CS are investigating the cause of the contamination.
