Upcoming holidays offer locals a chance to get out and honor everything the spring season has to offer.

Unsurprisingly, restaurant folks in the greater Wilmington area are adding something tasty to those celebrations. Here’s a look at what’s happening.

Munchie-fueled events are a must for this unofficial marijuana holiday. At Salt Fish in Carolina Beach there are two seatings Wednesday evening for a five-course CBD (cannabidiol) infusion dinner with cocktails. Look for dishes like local oysters with an infused chili basil oil, a koji-aged steak with heirloom tomato terrine, and a Britt’s Donut bread pudding for dessert.

In downtown Wilmington, PinPoint Restaurant is also offering a special “breakfast for dinner” menu on Wednesday. It includes snacks like bread with garlic hemp butter, share plates like poutine with fries, gravy, pork belly and cheese curds, and entrees of duck breast French toast and catfish-and-grits.

Also in Wilmington,Double Baked Smoked Shop & Bakery at 511 Shipyard Blvd. is hosting its first outdoor event with free cookies, live music, and snacks from the Tacos El Jefe food truck.

Friday, which is officially the day celebrating the Earth, Oak Island's Middleton Park is hosting a free event with hands-on exhibits, displays and (of course!) food. It's from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Look for SeaDogs, which is offering a special Earth Day box for the kids, and sweet treats from Candy Girl OKI.

Wilmington's Earth Day Festival is the following day, at noon-6 p.m. Saturday at Long Leaf Park. It promises to be an afternoon filled with live music, environmental information and something called a food truck forest where you can find Taqueria La Lillita, Webo Catering and Wheelz Pizza.

In the beer tent, you can buy brews from Bill’s Brewing Company, Wrightsville Beach Brewing Company and Edward Teach Brewery. Also look for wine from Noni Baca and kombucha from Panacea Brewing Company.

After the Earth Day events, you can they enjoy the Wilmington Vegfest. For the first time since 2019, the local vegan community is spreading the word about plant-based eating.

It takes place outdoors at Legion Sports Complex 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, April 24 and features more than 40 vendors like The Wicked Vegans food truck, Panacea Brewing Company, Cinnaholic, Rebel Cheese and Wild Earth, as well as live music and games.

The inaugural For the Ocean Gala from the local Plastic Ocean Project takes place at the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher on April 30. In addition to live music and a documentary screening, food fans will find a menu from True Blue Butcher and Table (which includes vegan options), wine from Coastal Beverage Co., Wrightsville Beach Brewery beer and Panacea's kombucha.
